I went into a shop the other day, hoping to buy a betta fish. He asked me how long id had my tank set up.. blah, blah, then said basically i carnt have it because the tank has to of been set up and running for at least 2 mounths, I exsplained its a tank with the better in by it's self, but he said that was that :/. Everywere iv read on the internet said that they need a compleate water change every 3/4 days if there in a 5 gallon tank or so. So to me it made no sense atall...

So is he right or what? :/ lol just thought id ask you lot seeing as you probally know more than any1 between you.

Ontop of that my bro said he had been into the shop a few weeks before, and they were just setting up there betta tanks, so there was no way they had set them up 2 mounths prior to the fish going in.

Thanks - Craig

they don't need to be set up 2 months before a betta, as long as you keep up with water changes and such then it would be fine

Just as i tought, the guy was obv talking out of his ####. Gutted because they had really nice fish, i had to go else were and the one i got its tail looks abit messey if you get me. Ill trow a pic up later, dont supose you could tell me if there's a way to help it repair or whatever.

His tail should grow back fine as long as his water his kept nice a clean for him. Melafix is also good to add as it assists in the healing of damaged fins.

ok thanks! think iv just got a heater off ebay for £2 too :/ haha. under a £5 deliver'd aint too bad is it ? :)

Bargain......it's surprising what you can pick up :good:
