My new Juwel 180 is setup and its going to be for some kind of freshwater puffer or puffers, I have had the sponges from this new tank in my old established tank for well over a month and Im adding the external filter from my old tank to the new one, so there should be plenty of bacteria.

Im just wondering how many fish I should put in there to keep the bacteria alive untill I find the puffer I want. Would one Siamese Fighter be enough to keep the bacteria alive? Or more than one fish?

I have neons, 1 guppy, 1 ram, 2 plecs & a fighter as options to put in.

Toss in a plec or 2. They make enough waste, they will keep the filter cycled fine.

You coud just add pure amonia to it every day to keep the bacterias alive.
