hi i am ready to make my 5minute filter and just want to check i get it all right.

1.do i need to put the tubing to the bottom of the gravel in the filter or slightly above some???
2.do i need to make sure the gravel that i use is from my mature tank???
3.do i need to soak the sponge first in my mature tank, if so how long???
4.does it matter how far the tubing is away from the water surface???
5.do i transfer most of the water from my mature tank to the breeding tank???
6.does it matter if i do a water change first???
7.how long to leave the breeding tank before adding fry???

thanks

I am going to assume you are going to use the filter right away.
1. A little above is probably better but it doesn't matter much.
2. Use mature gravel to speed cycling the new filter.
3. Just squeeze the air out of the sponge so it doesn't float on you.
4. The lift tube, the big one, should go close to the surface but not all the way.
5. If you are going to plop the fry in right away, they will see less stress if they stay in the same water they have been in. Otherwise it doesn't matter.
6. You should do a water change on the main tank first so you start out with good water.
7. If you need to leave the tank at all, dose it with ammonia to keep the bacteria alive. Otherwise you could add fry right away.
