Hello,just a quick question. If my extra tank that i'm setting up EVER cycles, I'm going to be moving out half of my fish from my main tank, because thanks to the guppies, its getting a bit overcrowded.
I'd like to get a few gouramis in my main tank, which is around 100litres, after allowing for substrate etc. Also in the tank will be female guppies, pakistani loaches, and possibly whiteclouds, unless I move them into the other tank.
What is the smallest type of gourami I can get, and how many should I keep, are they happy in pairs, or more?
In my Lfs, they have kissing gouramis and moonlight gouramis, does anyone have any idea of the size these grow to? If they're biggish, I'll probably have to go elsewhere.
Thanx, Teri

Nope kissers and moonlights get big, moonlights 6+ inches and kissers even bigger i've heard they can get 10inches+, although don't quote me on that....
To my knowledge (or lack of) you'd have 3 options;
Honeys) 1-1.5 inches
Dwarves) 2 inches
Thick-lipped) 3-3.5 inches
I wouldn't recommend dwarves, there are alot of problems currently associated with the species.
That is unless you can find true wild caught dwarves, which although a duller colouration i find infinitely more interesting and intelligent than my farmed(?) dwarves. Careful though it's almost impossible to know if dwarves labelled Wild are actually truly wild caught or just wild colourations that have been farmed.
I'd strongly recommend thick-lips; relatively easy to care for, peaceful in comparison to other subspecies and very friendly.
I'm not sure about keeping them with the loaches or guppies, they are compatible with whiteclouds (if, that is, you mean white cloud mountain minnows?) but bare in mind that coming from such different habitats one of the species would be prevented from being kept in its ideal environment.
Keep at least 2 females to every male, although the higher your female to male ratio, the better.
