Quick Cycle Qu?! Ref: Nutrafin Cycle

I plan to start cycling my tank on monday but am a little confused about 'cycle' - i got it free with the tank.

People seem to say this is either the best thing in the world or the worst, no inbetween.

I am going to do a fishless cycle using amonia, however, will cycle have a negative affect on this process by giving false readings .. etc?

I'm thinking it may be best to not use it untill my tank is fully cycled using the amonia and then just add it as maintanance once the fish are in?

Any advice on how this affects the cycle and its best use would be much obliged! THanks

I've used nutrafin benefical bacteria and to be honest didn't rate it much.
I wouldn't bother using it, all it's good for is after you have used meds to restore benefical bacteria abit faster.
