Because I have always wanted to do it, because they are two of my favorite fish(look wise). But I was pretty sure I remembered the answer. It is because they are both labyrinth fish correct? If so, this may be an obvious question, but why does that matter?

EDIT:As an off-topic question a dwarf gourami can live in a 10g correct? And is it a matter of they can, but they wont be as happy as they could be?

EDIT 2:The reason I ask about the 10g tank is because I'm going to have an empty 10g in a few weeks and I'm looking to see what I want to put in there.

PS:Sorry if these are obvious questions, but I want to make sure I have all of my information correct, you can never be to sure :good: .

They are fish from the same family.(notice the resemblence in the head of each fish?) & they are both fish that can be aggressive. Especially to each other. I accidentally put a betta with my male blue gourami(20g to himself), I wasn't even thinking about it until after it happened. The whole tail of my betta was a snack for the gourami. It wasn't pretty.
needless to say, the betta didn't pull through. So don't try it.

As for the dwarf gourami, it may live in the 10g, but it wouldn't be as happy as it would in 20-30g of water instead. Google the fish name or even just look on the profiles listed on this forum. :good:

A single male dwarf would be fine in a 10 gallon. You would be able to add other fish of course, just no other gouramis. However, dwarfs have been plagued by diseases lately due to inbreeding. You might consider taking a honey gourami (Colisa chuna) instead.
