Hey everyone,

First post here!! :hyper:

I have just addeed a male Siamese Fighting Fish and two females to my tank (less than a week ago)

The two females are slightly larger than the male, are the girls usually larger or will they be older?

If the girls are older is the male still likely to mate with the larger females?

The largest of them all seems to be pushing the male around, which seems unusual to me, will he be ok?

Thanks.

P.S. These are awesome fish!!

Hi.

Yes the females usually be plumpier as they carry eggs, the male will be slim and long.
Females and males shouldnt really be housed together, but it can be done with great care. I highly doubt they will breed though, or even if they do they will eat the eggs.

Welcome to the forum! :)

Obviously there must be some water container that is large enough to house more than a single male betta but I have never been successful in any tank. My largest tank is 120 gallons and 6 feet long.
I have kept a half dozen female betta splendens in a 10 gallon tank. The females are fine with each other. Breeding betta splendens requires specific set ups, it will seldom work in a community aquarium without extreme good luck. Both males and females should be well conditioned before being introduced to each other or to a breeding environment.
