Questions About A Used Tank

Today I found a used 2.5 gallon bowfront aquarium and I got a really good deal. I want to use it for one of my bettas but first I have some questions.

**How do I sanitize/sterilize it??
and
**It came with an undergravel filter. Do you think the filters that come in these little tanks work well. Are undergravel filters effective or should I just buy a small canister filter?

Just wash it out with some tap water..

The filters they provide should be fine,you could always get a HOB filter.

1 part bleach to 20 parts water, rinse thoroughly afterwards with tap water. Double up on dechlor when you fill it & you are good to go. I do this with 2.5's all the time, they are great little hatching tanks.

I had a tank that we kept a turtle in, and then the tutle got loose from her backyard compund... I turned the 10gl tank into a hospital tank. I took it outside and sprayed it with the hose with the "jet" spray. I then let the sun dry it all out. So far works fine... I am too afraid to use bleach. Although, I have a cousin that lost all her goldfish to a fungus in a 55gl, and she cleaned it with bleach and is having no problems with her community tank.
