Do not worry about rootabs. I keep crypts and do not dose in the substrate, only through the water column. I used to think that those plants fed with the roots as well until I continued to grow them well despite only dosing through the water column.

TPN+ is not really available through the US. But, I buy mine through Aquaessentials in eBay. It ships quickly enough.

Yes, you can have anacharis provided that you keep the tank in the lower end of tropical. That plant does best in cooler temperatures. Hygro polysperma may be a good choice too. I don't use stemplants very much anymore. For me, the labor of the constant trim, replant, trim, replant, gets tedious.

There is easycarbo, but it has the same ingredient as excel, so it would have the same effect as excel. Besides, if you go 54W, you will not need to add CO2.

Oh ok what about any red plants beside the red varieties of crypts and the dwarf lilies?

I don't think I can keep anacharis. My tank stays at about 82*F.

You could possibly give Alternantera reineckii a try. It can be very red. It's performed well for me in lower light conditions.

Thanks!

I'm thinking about buying plants from Bob's Tropical Plants. Are they reputable?
