I have question about Aqueon filters??? I have a Aqueon 30 filter that has only 1 removable filter inside the filter box... If I change this 1 filter out...Does that mean that all the GOOD ammonia eating bacteria are also changed out? If so, does that mean I am back to the ammonia problem?
THANX

i am not too familliar with that filter, but from what you are describing i would say yes that will remove all of the bacteria so not a good idea.....is there a way to put more than one insert into the filter?.....if so, you should always have two in there and change them alternately, never both at the same time

Possibly. The design of the filter is to keep the bacteria on the two blue plastic inserts. I've replaced the cartridge in mine numerous times and had no issues with spikes in ammonia or nitrite.
