how hard is it to start a marine tank (20gal) is it worth it ?

what will i need and how many or kind of fish can go in a 20gal ?

Very expensive in relation to its size, probably £400 to set it up before any livestock. Lots of maintenance more for a small tank. 20 gal seriously limits the fish 1 or 2 small fish, or a fish shrimp pair and a few hermits.
Easy enough to set up but difficult and time consuming to run well.

I would say more than two fish in a 20g, up to four would be OK in my opinion, but it greatly depends on the size of the fish.

:hi: to the salty side of the forum - at the top of the chit chat area there are a lot of journels, start your journey there by reading the journels of approx the same tank size as you are considering.......then, come back and ask us loads of questions :good:

We love planning and helping sort out a tank, we will be happy to help

all ready did .... thats why im asking (alot of you have really really nice setups ) is it worth doing a 20 or better off doing bigger 55-100 gal?

i was just looking for what you guys think

By the way to all who own marine tanks    very nice

The bigger the better mate!..Not just for viewing pleasure but for a more stable enviroment and easier to keep/maintain imo

As Woody says bigger is better really, lots more options although stuff like lights in particular get very expensive. A nice 3 or 4ft tank would allow yo to try most things. If you were set on keeping stuff like Tangs you would need to go bigger. Did you have anything specific in mind fish or coral wise, as this will dictate tank size and lighting as a starting point. The other thing is do you have a budget to try and stick to.

budget is not the problem.. just asking as i see alot of nice tanks wondering what it would Cost to run a marine tank

400$ for a 40$ tank is a little bit of an up set im sure the bigger the more in bulk ( would most likely cut cost)?
