~ Hey ~ I was wondering what was the smallest size tank you would need to have a salt water? Thanks!

I saw that someone had a 2.5 gallon and i was wondering if you could get fish in that and if so what kind/ Thanks!

We are wanting some of the Finding Nemo fish!

Thanks again!

IMO anything smaller than 40 gallons is tough to begin with. There is too much fluxation with water parameters in smaller tanks. They need attention everyday. I would not recommend them to anyone who is just starting the hobby or someone who is not dedicated to the living specimens in the tank. They are possible but not for starters or lazy people.

I am not a lazy person! We were just wanting to do a 10 gallon marine tank. Would that be too hard and i have been into fish for a while now but never have had marine fish!

Thanks!

Well, you CAN start a marine setup at the 10g size, but you'll need the patience of a saint and an accountant's attention to detail. You'll have to test everyday for various water parameters and be ready to act to correct problems before they arise, because after and your tank will most likely be doomed. Careful consideration and understanding of water chemistry is of UTMOST importance when starting a 10g tank so be careful. You're proly only looking at 1-3 fish in a tank that small but you'll have many options as far as corals and invertebrates goes. Make sure you check out the "nano" section here as it's got lots more good info in the pinned topics there :)

Check out our nano FAQ pins. Under 40-50 gallons is tough going. A 2.5 gallon tank is a pico tank and NO fish should go in there. Personally, wouldn't put ANY marine fish in a tank under 10 gallons. Nemo deserves a 20-30 gallon tank. SH
