well i have 5 mbuna: 3 yellow labs, 1 albino p. socolofi, and 1 colbalt blue zebra(not completely sure on this id though). i was wondering if cichlid pellets, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, dried seaweed, romain lettuce, and zucinni was a good diet for these guys. i just want to make sure im feeding them properly as i know some mbuna are more herbivorous and others are more carnivorous.

cichlid pellets- Fine
Blood worm- Definatly not becasue it casue bloat
frozen brine shrimp-Not Sure
dried seaweed -not sure
romain lettuce-not sure
zucinni -yes

cichlid pellets- Try to get NLS (New Life Spectrum if you can, the best staple food IMO)
Blood worm- Definatly not becasue it cause bloat (I concur Ginge)
frozen brine shrimp-My guys love these, only feed them once a week at most
dried seaweed -Not too sure on this, I know they like veggies
romain lettuce-Definately try this, just parboil it first
zucinni -yes, same as romain lettuce.

You can also try frozen daphnia, not very nutricious, but hilarious to watch your fish snap these up, also should be fed only once a week, and not the same week as the brine shrimp. You can also try peas.

thanks. the pellets i feed are from hikaria, cant remember which ones but they are in a green bag. ill scrap the bloodworms then. ill try the peas, i gotta bag of frozen peas just sitting in the freezer for nothing.

Just make sure you thaw the peas and then squeeze the inside out, they can't eat the outer shell of the peas.

Instead of bloodworms you can use mysis shrimp, they're very healthy and easy for them to digest. As long as you go with a good quality food you don't need to concern yourself too much with the brand. As a prepared food spirulina flakes are also extremely good for these guys.
