Hi, I am a newbie here. I am getting my son a 10 Gallon tank for a Betta fish as a gift for his bday (not until April) and I was thinking of planting it with some easier to grow plants. I really don't want to get into any plants that are too involved and require Co2. Atleast not yet. Want to try some easier ones and see how it goes... I am just wondering about the lighting in the tank. If I get him a standard 10 Gallon tank, would a 20 watt light be enough or too much? Thanx very much for you advice.

That will be fine aslong as it is a T8 tube, T5 might be a bit too powerful.

Egeria densa (pond weed)
anubias
hygrophillia polysperma
moss balls
java moss
cryptocorynes (may suffer from crypt melt initially but will recover)
echinodorus sp
