hi this is my first planted tank, (though not my first tank) its a nano 55 ltr iwagumi.
My question is this, the ammonia in the tank atm is around 2-3 ppm but i have put in an old sponge filter media from my other tropical aquarium, would it be safe to add fish now with this old seeded media or would it be best to fishless cycle it?

it maybe the sponge is not fully seeded if you still have ammonia if it was seedded the ammonia should be 0
