There are many things you can put in a tank.

My question is, are there certain materials you cannot place in a tank?
I saw some very cheap Chinese Warriors made out of some sort of ceramic or resin and were painted.

Compared with the LFS where they cost nearly 500% the cost, what is the difference and what could be harmful to my fish?

cheers

yeah you do need to be careful, some things will leech into your water.

I can't be much more help than that as I don't know what will or won't cause problems, but I just know you have to be careful!

Yes I've also read numerous times that you MUST not just put any ornament in the tank, ideally it should be one specifically sold for aquaria. They do cost more, and unless you know exactly what that ornament is made from etc I wouldn't take the risk, its better to be safe than sorry

I think that you ought to go with glass !
It doesn't react with the water (sand is basically small pieces of glass) and I love its reflective qualities.

I have been looking in charity shops for a globe paperweight, but found this instead.

I realise it will need cleaning from time to time, but think it looks great.

The dwarf grass was only planted today which is why it looks a little yellow.

Well I like it anyway.

I'm not looking for praise.........well,not much anyway.

I'm just really pleased with my first tank and so wish I had caught the fishkeeping bug years ago.
Must say that when I move into a larger place I will have several tanks of a larger size.
I love my new hobby much more than I thought I would and can't stop looking, thinking and worrying about my tank and it's inhabitants.

And a big thank you to all of you people out there whom have helped me and continue to help me through my teething problems with my new interest. :good:

Bye.
