Hello everyone,

i am wondering how to use correctly the lights and Co2 of my new established tank.
I have read in Tropica's website that the recommended usage for the initial period is 6hours per day.
Do i have to switch off the Co2 injection also when the lights are going off?
My light system has 66 LED of 0,5W, 2890 Lumen and 6500 Kelvin. It has also another feature called "Lunar" which operates only with 6 LED on and 3 blue ones.
Is it ok to use the Lunar mode after the 6 hours or do i need to have it completely switched off?
And if it's ok to have the Lunar mode on is it ok to have the Co2 running or not?

Thanks in advance for any comments,
Chris

The CO2 should not be running except when the full lighting in on.  Plants will take up CO2 along with other nutrients when the light is of sufficient intensity to drive photosynthesis.  Running CO2 when plants cannot use it, such as during the night, is dangerous as it builds up the CO2 and could poison the fish.  The CO2 should be on a timer; some have the CO2 shut off a bit before the light.

I am not familiar with LED lighting (still using T8) so I cannot say if the LED you have is going to balance diffused CO2.  If these came together, presumably all is well.  Members with LED experience will be able to help you with this.  The lunar mode will certainly not be sufficient for photosynthesis.

Byron.

Thanks Byron, so i will be closing the Co2 first and then turn the lights to Lunar mode for a bit more before switching them off completely.
Cheers
