When I'm fishless cycling, do I need a filter or substrate or anything or can I use just a bare tank? I'll be getting amonia Tuesday, but I can't get anything else until later... so would the bacteria still grow?
Also, when I do get a filter, would a Marineland Penguin BIO-Wheel Power Filter with 100 GPH be okay? I'm planning on having 6 rummy nose tetras, 3 Panda Cories, and a few shrimp and maybe 2 ADFs in a ten gallon. Note -- The tank will be heavily planted and water changes will be done 20-30% twice a week.
