I just a cory today im not sure what kind but it looks exactly like this one
Cory-trilineatus3.jpg

Its breathing like a maniac, well maybe not that, but realy fast compared to my danios. Is that normal? Its still in the plastic bag in the tank. And by the way, anyone know the specif name of that cory, incase I get more. Thanks

- Joe

**EDIT** for spelling

Mine always do that, the seem perfectlt healthy but all 3 have rapid gill movements

Ok thanks thats what i though but i just wasnt sure, didnt want to take chances. Wow I LOVE this forum

It is probably a little stressed due to being moved, and being stuck towards the top of the tank. Give it time to settle in, and it should be fine.

It appears to be a corydoras trilineatus, also known as a false julii cory. Julli corys have more rounded spots around the head, trilineatus are more oblong.

Are you sure its the false julii? Its hard to tell the difference really without seeing the species in person?

Anyways its either the corydoras julii or the corydoras trilineatus. The care for both is similar. When introducing new fish they commonly breath quite rapidly, especially if the tank is not established. If they seem to be having trouble breathing after being introduced to the tank try doing a water change. That will lower the ammonia and nitrite levels and should help the fish!

Well, that's why I said it appears to be. That picture is not an actual picture of the fish that was just bought by MNfishy. I had to check out planet catfish to double check.
