so I just when to Petco and bought some more aquarium plants, one was a echinodorus and the other was a Dracaena, now I did some research on the Dracaena and it seems its not even a real under water aquatic plant... wt*??? so can I not have this in my aquarium. if not its ok but really Petco...

there are many plants that pet stores claim are aquatic but they actually arn't. From what I can see on google this Dracaena is actually a house plant and not aquatic. The best place for it is in a pot on the window cill :)

This brings back memories :x

I fell for the exct same thing, trusting the LFS at the time in regard to aquatic plants

I did buy a dracenea plant, these are actually really semi aquatic plants, meaning the roots are fine under water but the leaves need to be above water!

Still have mine i bought these years ago, did put it in a small plant pot, did not do all that well since am not very good with house plants

BUT, i have recently, about 2 months ago, put it in a holed container with suckers and put it at water level in one of my tanks, roots in water and leaves out of water and over the edge of the tank, its growing well so far with several new shoots :)

I've known a few fellow fish keepers who do something similar to good effect. One that can be kept as a 'floating pot plant' (can't think of the correct term) is the peace lilly and it can be quite beautiful growing out of the top of an open top fish tank :)
