so ive recently got 5 otos to add to my tank and they are in the QT, one has a cotton fluff on its forehead and a smaller tanner fluff as well

also unfotunatley one died today with a very green, slightly bloated stomach, does anyone know what this is? ive also lost a farlowella cat to this as well so idk what is up with that? is it contagious?

right now i have a anti- ich, fungus, protozoan and dino flagellate as well as a anti-bacterial

brands are Ich Attack and Mardel maracyn-oxy, in that order

they are in a lightly planted bare bottom 5 gallon with a seeded 10 gallon HOB (aqueon) that tank used to hold a snake but was cleaned verywell and that was about 6 months ago.

ill try and bargain for a better QT tank but this is all i got for now.

How many fish and which type?
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph?

Do any of the fish have small white grain of salt spots?

Brown or white fluffy cotton wool can be columnaris which is bacterial.

Bloated stomach can be dropsy, swim bladder, constipation, internal parasites.

Were scales also sticking out with the bloated tummy?
What do you feed your fish?
What does it look like when the fish go to the toilet?
is the anus of the fish enlarged, or red and inflamed?

5 otos

ammonia : 0

nitrite : 0

nitrate : 5

ph : 7.2

no salt grains

no scales were sticking out
so far they have eaten only algae wafers every other day
excretions are brown
the anus is normal

Feed some shelled peas.
Also research the fish diet needs as they need more than algae tablets in there diet.

Add some maracyn to the tank if there in isolation.

unfortunately right after i read your post i checked the tank before i went to school and he was dead, again with a green stomach however it wasnt bloated.

the other 3 remaining otos look ok but should i add anything just in case or leave them be for now?
