While I'm waiting for my tank to cycle, I thought I would ask...

Is there anything wrong with using a python to add water directly from the tap during a routine water change? I know I need to add my dechlorinator to the tank before I add the new water. And I know I need to match the temperature as closely as possible. But, will the new water change the chemistry of the tank and shock the fish. It seems like my tap water has a high PH when it first comes out. But then it settles down to a 7.2 after a few days. Maybe I should use settled water instead.

Personally I would let it sit out or only do 15% water changes more frequently.

I've used a Python in the past but for refilling buckets. I personally would not use it to do a direct refill of the tank.

its personal preference and has alot to do with your waters PH. I know people who use them to do water changes, just make sure you get the water as close to the temp of your tank before doing it.
