So after the reccomendations of various people I have decided to get one of these. Fearing it wouldn't fir my kitchen sink tap but being told it fits a standard plumming tap like a washing machine tap I doubled up my washing machine and dish washer ready for the process. I was about to place an order when I had a thought, where will the waste water go? There is a waste standpipe near to the tap I will connect to but what length does the python offer from the tap area to get the waste away. The only pictures I have show it being ditched at the tap end down the sink, is this the only way or is there a hose to dump it off away from the tap?

Where you connect it to the tap, is also where your water fill flow out through the other end of the Y section. So the waste water goes where you want it to go really. I connect mine to the bath tap so the waste water simply flows out into the bath. Or kitchen sink or whereever you wish to attach it to. Or garden if your hose is long enough to connect it to a tap outside.

Have a look at This picture here on the DIY python thread - that should hopefully clear up your questions :good:

I was hoping there was a longer waste pipe bit as I don't think it will fit my kitchen sink tao, it is an odd shape. I like the idea of making my own though.

There are all sorts of connectors you could buy to fit whichever tap though. Or just go to your local DIY shop and see what they have to modify it. That's what I had to do.

I am gonna have a look tonight in either focus or homebase. The parts all seem like a fiver each on average and the hosepipe about £8 so I don't know if it is cost effective as someone said you can get the smaller Python for £25 which would do me and probably cost less.

Several people I know connect a hose to let the waste water drain out of a window to a flower bed, bushes, lawn, etc. Old fish water is Great for your plants!

Well I went out and bought everything and set it up as per the link further up. The only problem is either the stop unit does not work or I am a biff and cant get it to work.

do you mean that when you turn the dial on the gravel side the water does not stop, or on the faucet side. if it is on the faucet side the bottom one way is fill and one way is drain. on both if the gravel side is in off position water will still come out of the sink. if it is on the gravel side you turn both ways and you still get water comming out the open and close ball inside is not doing its job and needs to be taken back. also make sure to turn your water pressure at least 3/4 to full on or the pressure will not or might just give you alittle sucking action (as what happend to me when I first bought mine but I love mine now.

Just to clarify, I used the DIY kit. It seems I had it upside down.

Edit: The stop valve that is.
