I am getting 3 pygmy corys for my 5 gallon tank. It will be just them. It has some drift wood, to make the water more acidic and lower the ph a little bit, and some java moss to take care of nitrites and ammonia, there is a stone for laying eggs?, so anyways, will my pymgy cories be happy in here? i heard that you could fit 5 but that felt like overcrowding. So if they can, should i add some more corys or is that fine? The filter is made for 15 gallons i think.

If its just the cories, then 6-8 would be ok in a 5 gallon. The more you have the happier they will be.

oh, i thought 5 would be pushing it, i had to specialy order these pygmys, so i would have to wait a week to get 3 more, would that be ok?

also during mating season would males fight? will they eat each others eggs?

This is a fish I will be putting in my new 6 gallon planted tank and I plan on 6. I've done as many as 8 in the same size tank before and they were quite happy. As mentioned above they are a social fish adn like to be with their own kind. One of the great things about them is that they play so are quite fun to watch.

Nope, no aggression between them. They might eat the eggs, its best to breed them in a separate tank.

It's always a problem stocking tanks this small, the footprint (assuming it's a 16x8x10) will likely just about handle 6 pygmy cory's comfortably. But the volume means you won't have a lot of nitrates to worry about relative to some other stockings.
