Hi I am new to this forum and fairly new to the tropical fish keeping sceen.
I have 9 purple emperor tetra 1 clown loach and 1 gourami

since this afternoon one purple emperor has got a swollen eye looks a bit like a blister or bubble what could this be is my fish going to die???

I have tested the water and all seems well all other fish are feeding as they should even the fish in questions seems as lively when it comes to food.

what can i do??

can forward pictures if it helps but they are not to clear.

Sounds like popeye which is a bacterial infection. Question is how did he get it? How big is the tank? When you say you tested the water, what did you test for? We need nitrite, nitrate, amonia and PH readings. When we have that info we can adise further.

Why did you think it was the myxazin.
I tend to say anti internal bacteria by interpet for popeye.

because all the other fish who were previously fine and healthy got sick and i checked the water and it was fine so i assumed it was the myxazin. also it did nothing to him. didn't help in any way.

Ok.
Did you use the correct amount of med and not overdose.
I wouldn't use myxazin on popeye myself.

yep.

i checked the levels and calculated all kinds of things for my tank and checked it like 4 times before i put it in.
because of this i decided not to use it anymore.
it's never cured any of my fish, just kept them alive longer when they were clearly suffering.

Uk meds are not that strong.
They will sometimes keep the bacteria at bay but not cure it.

I don't trust waterlife as they tell fibbies, they say one of the med treat ntd when there no cure.
Also they say a med treat internal parasites which is not true.
Then they say myxazin controls popeye what that meant to mean, in another word no is dosn't cure popeye.

You can order american meds but its illegal once they get into our country, but who cares lol.

i trust the guy who runs my lfs cos he really knows his stuff.
it's his staff i don't trust and he's hardly ever there or when he is, he's busy.

like today i went to take back an evil angel that had been attacking everything within reach and sight and the whole tank was in hiding and the woman told me that my water could be the problem when i'd checked it and checked it and it was fine.

i got pretty frustrated.
luckily she saw sense and gave me a full refund and i got two new fishies out of it :)

Angels can be aggressive you have to get your stocking right.
Never kept them myself just don't interest me.
Best researching fish yourself before buying, as most lfs staff will sell you anything for a sale.

yeah i figured.
i've had loads of angels and they've all been fine but this one had a screw loose or something. he looked evil too.

have you ever kept cichlids?
