Ska??!?!??!?!??????????

Hell ya ska ska ska ska
Ska can be as punk as anything else .

Catch 22 = sKA AT ITS BEST I recomend Permanent Revolution Band site I have seen these guys live
Reel big fish, = You just got dumped/beat up/fired but hell just grab a bear or two and have a good time. Thes guys are fun upbeat and most of there songs have a hevy mesage reel big fish
The Aquabats= Awsome more of a joke then a band fans are like-minded kids who understood the irony in the 'scenes' and just want to be entertained. Aqua bats

The mighty mighty boss tones= Heavy stuff i love these guys .Like the sex pistols but dare i say it ........better
Dropkick Murphys Irish punk/ska
Sublim

Ska is were its at .

Not that into the ska you suggested mostly because it's too corny I.E. the mighty mighty bosstones (who cannot be compared to the Sex Pistols for many reasons the most important being that the Sexpistols never played any form of Ska.). The stuff I like that might be classified as Ska is stuff like Tim Armstrong's new solo album "A Poets life"

Other than that type of stuff, I'd rather not listen to songs about "She has a Girlfriend now" and I really don't like too many horns in my songs, especially not the full big band sound like Reel Big Fish and the Bosstones have.

If it doesn't follow the Clash's ska prototype it's not really my style.

My favorite punk would have to be Iggy Pop with and without the Stooges. Followed by Siouxsie & the Banshees and then Ramones.

and also ska is not all like Real big fish .

The best ska is two tone or second wave wich is a lot slower that third wave but still has a walking base line and horn.

There is also first wich is a off spring of rock steady and reggae (also awsome genres)

when i was young!! ( im 44 now, old man) the punk bands we were in to were
999
english dogs
stiff little fingers
the pistols,
inflammable material by stiff little fingers is a cracking album, these days i still like a bit of pace to the stuff i listen to, the mars volta, end of fashion (oz band just out , good debut album) smashing pumpkins, still put the tubes on now & again, also the cocteau twins & teenage fanclub (music to wallpaper to!!), still go to the odd gig aswell, went to see the cult a cpl of months ago, seen, ash, the darkness, iron madien (crap! ) going to see the waterboys in may

If you frequent this part of the forum you'll know that I'm a huge Punker, (well at least with my music selection and attitude) I've grown too old to really pull off the mohawk these days. But I'm wondering what everyone in here thinks is Punk and what they think about Punk as a genre. Then if you don't like Punk I want you to make a suggestion for me of another type of music, name a band and a song and I'll give it a try, maybe we can break my loyalties to my favorite type of music.
