One of my platys gills is dark colored, swollen, and puffed up. what is this?

What are your recent test results for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and ph? Does the fish display any odd symptoms like flicking/rubbing itself against objects, has dusty stuff on it, red streaks on body etc?

Water tests show nothing is wrong with water. The fish is acting like her usual self with no symptoms. Its just the gill, surrounding the eye is the dark puffy part.

Here are some pics of it.

The whole underside is looking swollen from the pics, but it is hard to tell as they are quite blurry.
So there are no other symptoms. Silly question, but could it have eaten too much?! Sorry if it seems really daft :)

EDIT: could it be dropsy?

It has nothing to do with stomach, just that one gill. Thats the only place affected. Its just orangy, brown and its puffy/swollen. Normally that gill is white.

Does the gill resemble a ham burger.

uh... i guess it kinda does. Is there a site with pics of all diseases?

There a desease called hamburger gill desease. The site with the info down.I will try to find some info for you.http://article.dphnet.com/cat-02/biology2.shtmlNever see it much on here this desease so I would definately make sure the symtoms match up.Good luck.

Not sure never hear of that desease much at all on here.Is the fish rubbing the gill. Can you explain what it looks like the gil.Red inflamed gills or pale with excess mucas on them can mean gill flukes.A hole in the gill is usually fish tb.http://www.koicrisis.com/symptoms/gill.html

As you cna see in teh pics it go halfway around eye and its liek he has a black eye. Its orangy, brown and lumpy puffyish, like a fungus or bacterial thing. There is no flicking or other behavior problems.

Can't make anything out in the pics I need some specs.
If its swollen and the fish is not rubbing its gills like something irratating them best to try a bacterial med first.
Brown areas on a fish can be columnaris to velvet like a brown varnish.

I wouldn't rule out velvet but would of expected the fish to be flicking and increased breathing.
The brown does it look fluffy on the gills or like a dusting.
