My GSP just died, and actually probably took some others w/him along the way. I didnt realized he was diseased when i bought him & I had to keep him in my community tank for one night and he ended up causing disease to the whole tank!
I had him in his own brackish tank, but i have decided to just run one 55 gallon tank, Non Brackish! I would like to add a puffer to the tank, who will share spac w/ 4 plecos, 3 pictus cats, and 1 syno featherfin. Correct me if i am wrong but i dont see a puffer bothering the catfish b/c he cant catch them & he will stay out of the way of the plecs.
I was thinking of a Red Eye puffer, but i wanted to make sure he was not brackish, they told me this about my GSP but i knew otherwise. If you have any other adv please let me know.

Thanks

There are no true community Puffers, so none are really suitable for a community tank.

If you really want a Puffer get a species tank for one and one alone, When you say Red Eye Puffers which ones? There are loads called "Red Eyes" which could be one of about 6 or more species. These are all Freshwater though.

i have read in other places that puffers are fine w/ plecs, i dont think a puffer is going to harrass syno eupt. or a few pictus cats based on their speed and sharped barbed fins. i am not placing a puffer w/ tetra's, but fish that are much larger, and have ways of detouring predators, am i wrong that puffers will have seek out a plec?

I think the red eye is the red tail red eye, i saw them at a LFS about two months ago, but they guy said they get to about 3-3.5 inches in length and are freshwater.

If you didn't want a truthful answer why ask?

You seem already set on getting one, even though you cant actually tell me which one (real name) rather than common name....ive advised you that there are no community safe puffers, whether the fish are large or small nakes no difference...its also been asked so many times on here now you would think that a quick use of the "SEARCH" facility would be sensible...but its your cash spend it if you like, just don't expect a carnivore to play nice with other fish.

this may seem harsh, but when you see the same question sooooo many times, and it gets the same answer then the "ive read it'll be fine elsewhere" then why bother asking?

If you really want a Puffer be sensible for the (most likely wild caught) fish and get it, its own tank!
