bascailly i want to keep some small stripy chilids and have in teh past had these rcommaded to me, along with some otehr today which were a bit larger,

bascailly

i think i prefer the Pseudotropheus demasoni, but i alos like the two colours of the Pseudotropheus lombardoi.

bascailly could i keep the demansoni, with otehr malwia chilids or would they need to be in a species tank, again what kind of sie tnak would i need

OTP

Both fish are extremely aggressive especially towards each other and similar looking fish. I have 1 Demasoni in my Mbuna tank kept with single examples of various species and it just about works. He is a vicious little fella sometimes but most of the other Mbuna are bigger than him and can cope. Lombardoi are slightly less aggressive but only just.

Both species are difficult to keep becauise of the aggression but if you research them carefully, certainly possible. Demasoni are particularly difficult to keep in groups because they pretty much hate each other. I sometimes wonder how they manage to avoid extinction.

Lombardoi would certainly be easier (with good research) but IMO are not as good looking.

Hope this helps OTP

hmmm any suggestions of less agressive but simerlar looking chiclids, that can be kept in a 55gl ish tnak

Pseudotropheus Saulosi males are very similar to Demasoni but they are much less aggressive, good candidates for a Mbuna community tank.

Melanchromis Johanni are a little bit different but a nice colour of blue, again they are far less aggressive.

Pseudotropheus Elongatus would be another option although their aggression level is a little higher than the other 2 i have mentioned.

Look them up and see what you think. I bet you'll like the Saulosi, great fish. :D

the main reason i l;ike the demasoni, is there small size, dam them for being so agressvie
