I don't have angelfish anymore, no. And I probably won't have any for a while, given they don't fit in any of the communities I have.

However, I did have a couple beautiful veiled angelfish in the past. I fell in love with them quickly, but they died just as fast. The death was sudden, with no signs of common disease up until death date, when they started clamping fins with their noses pointed upward.

I haven't tried a pair since. The pH of my faucet water is about 7.4, as is my tank's water, and the temperature usually rests around 78 degrees.

When I told the LFS, (and the other pet stores nearby) they all were saying their angelfish shipments have been dropping like flies, usually none of the fish lasting through a week.

I had a feeling that angelfish just aren't surviving the aquarium world anymore, but looking at the beautiful ones owned by people on this forum, I do want to try again some day.

now, to get to the point, can some people give me some specs on proper water conditions for angelfish? is a 37 gallon (30inches by 12 inches by 21 inches) big enough? What has been killing off all the angelfish in my area so quickly and suddenly?

I am not sure what is killing your angels and it truly saddens me! I fought a truly terrible battle with one of my beauties and finally won the war, though he will never look the same. I keep my angels at 80 degrees farenheit and while yes it does shorten their lives, it also in my opinion, improves their immune response and growth rate. Bloke should not have survived the massive systemic flesh eating infection he had, but I truly believe that a lifetime of quality food and large 90% water changes once a week gave him the reserves to fight and win the battle. I have not had luck with a new pair since the purchase of my threesome. The lines are weak or being bred in substandard conditions. I am puzzled as to why this is so. Since the introduction of the koi variant, it seems.
