Hi everyone, I've got a problem with my clown loach. He seems to be flicking himself against the bogwood, there are no signs of whitespot and no rapid gill movement and he is not swimming close to the surface. Any ideas anyone? I was tempted to treat for whitespot but thought I'd ask advice from the experts first. No other tank mates seem to be flicking or rubbing. Thanks in advance for any help. Becky

Can you pop a picture up for us and try to give as many tank statistics as possible, i.e. water parameters pH etc, size of the tank, other occupants.

The only thing I can say at the moment is keep an eye on him. Has he got a slimy coating to his body, or missing scales, or is he doing it at any particular time i.e. after he has just been fed.

Hi Jazee B,

Clowns are very very susceptible to white spot. I would almost put money on it that whitespot is the problem. Can you see any spots on the fish?

I'd recommend starting treatment right away, just in case. If you use a copper-based med, only use half the dose as clowns can be sensitive to these. Something like Coppersafe might be best.

Let us know how you get on.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Any tiny bubbles on the fish as that can be a sign there about to break out in whitespot.
