2 months ago my molly gave birth to another healthy batch of fry, apart from one. It was born with one gill, so it swam like it was on a helter skelter! All in all it carried on like a normal fish. Now its belly has gone a funny shape and it is struggling to swim, it is just lying on the floor. I dont want my squinty to die, but i always knew it wasnt going to have a long life. any tips to make squinty more comfortable. Thank you. kaanda- apologies for the layout i'm using my psp to write this.

Ok well here's a nother HelterSkelter to try to help (of sourts)

Having only one gill will affect how the fish take's in Oxygen and thus this will be low as only one gill.

Having a low oxgen intake will reduce the rate the fish will grow, and reduce it caperabilaty of digesting and processing foods.

I'll be incluned to try to keep this fish away from the others to try to reduce the stress, either a nother small tank or perhaps a breeding net.
Also feed it plenty of live foods and make sure u do water changes as well.

Now its belly has gone a funny shape and it is struggling to swim

Has it swelled up or look's sunken in?

I had it in a small tank but now its in a breeding net. its belly looks like a square at the back. Its sad because a couple of days ago it was its cheeky self, and i totaly adore it...its heartbreaking to see him lying helplessly.

strange, guess it may of got a blockage in it's guts. if they had to much weight in them ie food or stones or anything and they cant be passed then this weigh's them down and they cant adjust their swim bladder enough to compensate, thus resualting in being to heavy and stuch.

How ever I dont rearly know and sounds strange to me.

I just thought i would let you all know, Squinty died when i got back home from work. :-( . He was only 2 months old, was teh size of a very small tetra but i loved that little dude. Thank you all for the help and advice.
