quite a few of the leaves are going clear, then bits are breaking of and floating

i dont use any ferts as iv got discus in, lights are on for around 8 hours, no co2

Iv got some API root tabs, TPN+ and Easycarbo, but not sure weather to use them due to how funny the discus are with water condition

i read somewhere that they are fine for 3months then go funny for abit the ok for 3months?

Personly ive never had luck with vallis, its a plant i like but doesnt like me. Regardless of high lighting, fertz, root tabs etc etc it all dissolves away to nothing within a month or so. If you find a solution id like to know aswell ;)

why would you think plants will be ok without ferts?
Would you be ok with out food?

The fish will add the nitrates and phosphates, but you'll need to add some micros, get some TPN in there.
TPN+ Has N and P so you may not wanna use that!

im not adding nothing, thats just the ferts iv got.

3 hours at 1 54W then the about 5-6 hrs at 3 X 54W

angelfish are always picking at them, cories go up and down them getting bits off

also 1 of the fish has pulled 3 up, could be 1 of the 5 plecs?

not used ferts due to the discus and the water conditions

some plecs may rasp on plants but i have no experience this so my comment may be invalid.

i would dose TPN+ and easy carbo...i have found in the past that vallis likes a lot of iron and magnesium.

Will the discus be ok with it?

how much do you think i should dose?

im doing a 50% WC change this sunday im moving th tank around as well and doing some pruning ( cutting clear leaves off etc) where should i cut off?

Hard alkaline water is the key.

IME you shouldn't cut them off especially if the leaf is dying. Pull them off at the base or the tip will go slightly brown and that leaf will stop growing (IME)

And yeah lol, this is why vallis are used in cichlid tanks alot, they have contrasting requirements to asia and south american fish :p
