Hi everyone,

I am looking for advice ...I have had my tank for about a week and have checked everything and its all fine but today the water is cloudy,I have researched this and think its down to a bacterial bloom. What I want advice on is how to clear it up ,I have read to leave it alone ,do water changes, add filter aid, clean the tank thouroughly etc,it's all a bit confusing...

My fish are fine (I have five danios )and not struggling I have turned up the air stone a little as well to ensure they have enough air....what else should I be doing

any advice much appreciated

JD

Please fill this out to help others help you better;

Tank size:
pH:
ammonia:
nitrite:
nitrate:
kH:
gH:
tank temp:

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):

Volume and Frequency of water changes:

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:

Tank inhabitants:

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):

Exposure to chemicals:

Digital photo (include if possible):

Too much organic material in the tank causes this in a newly cycling tank. A 50% water change via a gravel vacumn cleaner would help and feed the fish sparingly (dechlorinate water before adding to your tank). Filter aid/bottled bacteria would help speed up your cycle, go for it.

Great info on this forum about bacterial blooms here: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/246850-bacterial-blooms-explained/
