i have been recommended by some people on this forum to check out Endlers for my tank
i have tried but in all the books and various books in my LFS i cant even find any mention of them
i have spoken to a friend who had loads of different fishes and he hasn't heard of them.

from the pics i have found they seem to look just like guppy's.
are they a new breed of fish or do they have a more common name?
if somebody could explain i will be very grateful

thanks

They're very similar to guppys but they are actually a different fish and exist in the wild, the males are very colorful but very small in comparison to the females (which are always very dull in color and look very similar to female guppys). Endlers and guppys can very easily crossbreed (in fact quite a few of the different colors and patterns achieved in male guppys were achieved so by breeding them with endlers etc), and its not uncommon to find endlers in pet shops which are not pure endler- but they are quite different fish from guppys in certain respects and the males stay very small in particular, making them ideal for smaller tank set ups  .

i have another question...
is it ok to get just males for the tank because i dont have the space if they have fry

They can be a bit hard to find. I had to get mine on aquabid because I couldn't find them locally. I see that you are in the UK so I have no idea where you could find them. I do know that others in the UK keep them so its just a case of finding them. These guys are a bit prolific. I have been known to say that a really horny rabbit might breed like endlers.
Edit: BTW my avatar is a fry from a wild type endler. Be careful because people call endler crosses with guppies endlers. It would be more correct to call them endler hybrids.
