Is 3 for £10 normal for emperor tetras? I can only find one place around me that has them right now, and they have black and blue at that price. My single one is just... a normal coloured one. I have no idea the price I paid, but I don't want mine to be alone for any longer if possible.

Alternatively, would getting a different group of peaceful fish give him enough security until I find my matching tetras?

Edit: I just read that the blue are actually a different genus. I'm not sure about the black, though. I don't know what to do. I thought these would be the easiest fish on my list to find!

One of my local fish shops sells tetras 5 for £10 no matter what breed they are, though I dont think I have ever seen the emporor tetras there.

They run around $3-5 a piece here in my neck of the woods. I would say that sounds about the right price. Can you post a pic of your tetra?

Thanks! I ended up getting them from somewhere nicer, and where they cost 4 for £7. I forget the individual price. I don't have a decent photo on this hard drive, and my son hid my camera battery. You can sort of see their blurs at the bottom of this thread, though! http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/404523-starting-over-journal/

They do! It is so much better than when I had one alone in a hospital tank. They will be even happier once I can arrange the tank properly and get the rest of the plants.
