Ok, so I like to prepare the water for changing in advance. I usually do it after I change the water. But room temperature is too cold now, so I've been leaving some space in the containers to add warm water to get the temperature right before I add it to the tank.

So, my question is, do I need to add more Prime to the container of prepared water when adding the warm water? Or is the Prime that's already in the water in the container enough to dechlorinate the new warm water?

Since the containers are 2 gal and 1 gal respectively, and its pretty hard to measure out the absolute correct amount of Prime for those low numbers of gallons, there's always enough added to treat at least 3 gallons per container.

My tank is 10 gallons.

Thanks! :fun:

You wouldn't need to add any more Prime just for the warm, especially if you're overdosing it already. You can get cheap 1ml syringes at the chemist that would help you with that (it's 0.25ml per 10l, btw).

Oh, I should also say that there's really no point in preparing water in advance; we used to do that in the old days, before dechlorinator was commonly available, to let the chlorine gas off, but if you're using Prime anyway then it's unnecessary.

I'm sure it won't be hard.

Ask at your chemist/pharmacists as they usually sell them for things like dosing children's medicines. You won't want a needle on it or anything like that, so they shouldn't look at you too suspiciously!
