If you go out to the store and buy the frozen beefheart cubes, what do you do?

Do you thaw them?
Do you feed them frozen?
Do you mix them with other food and cut into slivers?

If there's a recipe, what is it?

thanks

make sure they are trimmed of all fat......... also if you go to a butcher (not a grocery store) they will give you it for next to nothing and they will trim the fat for you, this is what my butcher does but no guarantees with yours

A properly prepared beefheart mix can be fed everyday. It is the only thing that I have fed in my discus hatchery for several years.

To prepare Beefheart, cut away all fatty tissue, tubes etc, so as you are left with the nice red meat. Cut your choice pieces into cubes and individually wrap them in pieces of plastic. and place them in the freezer. When you want to feed to your fish take one cube out and run it up and down a hand held grater until you have enough for that particular species. (resembles red worms) Place the grated meat in a fine mesh net and run under the tap to defrost an clean. Then feed to your fishes. Some people do not like feeding beefheart for various reasons, but I like to include it in my feeding regime but would only offer it once a week at the most. Any uneaten meat must be removed from the aquarium as it will foul the water.

Any use in mixing with some other vegetagbles? Or would the meat by itself be fine?
