My platy has been pregnant for a while and she should be due any day now. I've never had a successful platy pregnancy and she's red and swollen around her 'private area'. Is this normal? Is she having complications?

Your platy picture shows a fish that I think may have a prolapse. If that is true, there is little you can do to help her. In essence, her problem is that she has material on the outside that would normally be contained within her. I have seen such cases resolve themselves well and other cases where the female was lost because the problem was not resolved.

She just developed this within the past couple of days. I really hope it resolves itself. If it doesn't resolve itself, what will happen to the fry she's carrying? Do you think she'll still drop even if she has this problem?

I looked online for a while to see what I could do and a suggestion was to fast her for a few days. I've fasted her for only a day and she already looks back to normal! I think I'll only end up fasting her for 2 days because she already looks better. Thanks for letting me know what it was :)
