i have had my females and males together for 3 weeks now! should they be pregnant by now and if so should they be rather large? 1 females gravid spot is a bit bigger and darker than it used to be but no females look any bigger.

thnx for any replys :)

They should definitely be pregnant, but what kind of fish are you talking about here? Should I assume Guppies as per your username? Some fish don't look much larger when pregnant, like Balloon Mollies.

oh sorry yes they are guppies. 1 is definatley bigger than she used to be though

i found that guppies do'nt look that huge when they give birth. but when the gravid spot goes down u know its had some. mine had 10 babies. most of the time the gravid spot doe'nt go straight away after birth. it normally has even more after.

good luck :)

is it easy to spot fry in the tank when u dont know when they have been born?

Sometimes you wont notice they have been born at all because the other fish see the fry as a sort of delicacy! So you have to be quick and have somewhere to put the fry to save them getting eaten!

so if they have been together in a tank for about three weeks when will she get bigger and actually have her fry?

depends depends depends

she may give birth in about a week but it could be another 2 id say if its there first time it will be one this week one the week after both about 25 babies
but after a while mine started doing it same time from starting 2 weeks apart and then i was having 80+ fry swimming around
be very carful what u wish for with guppies
