Hi, I've got two mickey mouse platies both females. In the past few weeks their belly started growing and now it's really massive that look like it could explode any minute. The first thing that came to my mind was that they could be pregnant.. but the thing is they are just about an inch in size, meaning they are young. They have been with other platies - coral platies and swordstails that are males. I hope someone could tell if they are indeed preg regardless of their size or they are just full :)

Rule of thumb in livebearers is male + female + water = babies.

If the females have been in the same tank as a male within the last 6 months, they are almost certainly pregnant, and will continue to drop fry every 4 weeks or so until 6 months has elapsed.
