ok so me and my mom were talking and she said i should get grass so my platy and guppies could have their babies in. but i thought it was that water fern. any adivce?

I wouldn't get grass as that could be contaminated or will decompose and damaage the water quality. Buy an aquatic plant that is bushy such as java fern which will mean there is somewhere for the fry to go to aswell, however, if you want the fry to survive, I would fish them out and put them in a separate tank as it is likely that the fry will get eaten in the main tank.

ok any other plant other then java fern? i cant get that at either of my petstores and my moms not too big into ordering stuff

Well I'm not sure what plants you have at your fish store, but i'd say any bushy plants where there are lots of places for the fry to hide. A floating plant might help as fry will often swim towards light (towards the surface) so that will give your fry anothe place to hide.
What tankmates have you got and what substrate?

ok, ill ask my petstore, um i have 3 angelfish, 1 dalmation molly, 3 guppises,2 mickey mouse platies, 3 panda cory, 4 otocinclus, and 1 male swordtail. and does the bushy plant and floating plant work for all fry, of like all species or just certain ones?

Well those are just general plants for fry. I doubt that the fry will survive with the angelfish, as I have a feeling they are eat fry due to their size. If you have a gravel substrate you stand a better chance as the fry will hide in the gaps in the gravel where the other fish can't get to them- however, they have to come out and eat at some time.
I'm sure you're fish store will advise you on the best plants or other recommendations. Good luck!

well i do have gravel and thank you

A few plants that are suitable as cover for a fry drop are "guppy grass", najas grass or java moss. I have also used hornwort as a livebearer fry cover. This is a picture from some months back of my guppy tank with lots of java moss in it.

Even Anacharis/Elodea like this will help in a pinch but it is not as good for cover.
