Right guys -please help me , i have had fish for seceral years and i ALWAYS seem to have the same problem,

1- buy platty's
2- plattys grow up and are perfectly healthy
3-platty's becomes heavely,
4- fish develops dropsy
5- fish dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so as i have around my 8/9th preggers platty, she is about 2-3 days from giving birth, and has now developed dropsy,
ANY idea what i can do / am doing wrong???!!

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
What do you feed your fish.
Are scales sticking out.
Lost any fish to being really thin.
Lost any fish to bent spines.
What does it look like when the fish go to the toilet.
Any fish have sunken in bellys.
Any fish have enlarged anus or red inflamed anus.

Once scales stick out last stage of dropsy organ failure.
All you can do is epson salt baths to help draw the fluids out.
If you can issolate try a bacterial med, but usually the survival rate when scales are sticking out are very slim.

the tank is 90g, 8 other plattys, 8 guppys, 4 honey g'mai's, 2 red robin g'mai's 1halfmoon siamise fighter male and 2 female, 1 6'' sailfin plec,
water stats are all normal,
fish are fed on a variety of flake , frozen and veg foods
belly scales are sticking out but not on other parts of body,
lost 1 guppy about 3 months ago through bent spine and thinness
platty poo is a dark brown (normal) colour
no sunken in bellys
1 guppy had enlarged anus - i separeted her in hosp tank but she died 2 days later - she was skinny too

what ratio water -salt should i use for the bath??

the reason that i find it strange is that dropsy ONLY appeares on the pregnant fish - non of the others??!!!!

If some fish have had bent spines, thiness, and enlarged anus it sounds like internal parasites.
You will need to treat the whole tank.

you say water stats are all normal, whats 'normal'? could really do with actual figures in ammonia; nitrite and nitrate :)
