hi.

im not lying here i will post a picture through when i get my camera.

one of my male coral platys has got great colouration he has got a bright orange tail and a few spots. (dont know why :dunno: )
but when i just check to see if eny of my female platys were pregnant I realised that my best colours has got that black spot on near his anal fin. I am extreamly puzzled about this and i wondered if eny of you guys could help me find out why he has got the spot near his anal fin (he is fat also) i was starting to wonder if he could be a male on the outside but be female on the inside. (sorry if this sound wierd)

thanks alot.

We have some coral platties. :( My big male..is actually a very prolific female. Turns out the smaller guy is the guy! Not what they told me at the store!!!Now we use the fins structure to guess!!So, we have a big big female, a smaller male and a little female! No fry at the moment. Should be having some soon. Last time we actually watched them being born. So, keep an eye on the fish don't take it for therapy yet and who knows!!
This is Gracie Mountain Mans wife!

i thought that he could be a transexual he as got the pointed anal fin so he is a male on the outside but he as got the black patch at the front of it.

pics soon :kewlpics:

no offense but thats one screwed up fish

We had 3 wagtail platys, 1 male, 2 female (we checked by their fins), the male got removed to cycle our small hospital tank, and after a week or two, one of the remaining females had a pointy anal fin.....apparently 'she' had turned into a 'he'.

I'm not sure if they are meant to be able to do that

they, meaning females, take that fin in, it could be injured, the fin, not the fish. when some platys are pregnate the black on them gets darker and in more areas, when they give birth the black will go away(i think u said something about black on the fish)

hi go to Member's Aquarium Pictures and go to pregnant platy to see him/her.

Actually i found when my male guppy is breeding a black spot appears where the gravid spot on a female is...this is only his sperm packets ready to be used :p so you could just be a little confused.....i also just want to note that maybe you just fed him?? :/ or he could have a disease
