HELP!! i have just recently added two more danio's to my fish tank with 2 danios already present. Just yesterday, (and i might add ive only had the new danios in my tank for 3 days now) i noticed my new zebra danio has a swollen stomach. At first i thought it might be a female preparing to release her eggs, however after researching the differences between male and female danios i think this particular one is a male! He still seems happy enough and is still doing everything he is supposed to be doing...so what is wrong?
Please help, im totally new to this and after losing almost my entire first batch of fish to whitespot, i am really not keen on wacthing the deaths of any more!! :/

If the fish really is a male then you have to possibilities

1. it is overfed and needs to go for a poo, has it been to the loo recently and what are you feeding it on
2. it has dropsy and I'm not sure that there has ever been any success in curing that :(

2. it has dropsy and I'm not sure that there has ever been any success in curing that :(
depends on the cause of dropsy
if intestinal (ie a blockage) then it is easily cured
if bacterial it can be cured if caught early enough
if it is renal then there is no cure

show me a picture of this danio and I'll tell you for sure if it is male or female

ok, i'm trying to get a picture of him/her..im feeding my fish just plain fish food flakes and every now and then some tablets for variety...do you really think he might be over fed?? i have four danios, one peppered cory, 6 neon tetras and a bristlenose. he still seems to be happy but the swelling is still there...
