Hello

Have had my eye on my guppy and she is def preggers. I am totaly unaware of what to do with the fry when she gives birth should i take her out of her current tank?? shall i move the male aswell ?? LFS sold them to me months ago as 2 males and stupidly i never thought to question it. :X

Will she need anything? Will she munch the fry once born ??

AAHHH am so confused :S

Should of stuck to keeping bettas

(and no they are not in the same tank)

Can anyone shed some light on this for me ?? have read the pinned bit at the top now so is there anything else anyone would like to add or advise ??

I would leave the fish to give birth in the tank, as them breeders cause stress causing the fish to abort or even die, let the fry take their chances in the tank, if their are plenty of hiding spaces and plants some of the fry will survive, yes the fish will eat the young if they can catch them, best to have 3 females to one male, if you don't want the fish to carry on having fry you will have to remove the males, but the fish will carry on having babies for a couple of months once you have removed the male, as they store sperm, keep an eye on water quality if she has alot of fry as this can soon change the tank water quality.

 I currently have 2 mollies 5 assorted teteras and 1 guppy female I am pretty sure she is pregnent but i'm not sure can you help me? is there anything I can do to help the fish?

If she is pregnant she will have a gravid spot, she will get fat, what do you want to no.

Don't do anything. If she's pregnant she'll give birth and some of the fry will survive and some will get eaten. Just make sure the fry don't over-stock your tank. Also, if you got her over 4 months ago and there hasn't been a male guppy in the tank within that time, what sex are your mollies? They can inter-breed and you must not then give away or discard the hybrid fry as you risk polluting the natural gene pool as well as the domestic strains.
