Has anyone noticed that their heavily-pregnant females have an ovipositor-like white "egg tube" (eg like on a female betta) poking out a couple of days before they are due to drop? Also I've noticed that the males seem more interested in these females, wonder if they release pheromones! :*)

Please tell me I'm not going crazy seeing an ovipositor on a livebearer... :S

I know what you mean its like their bum has dilated abit.. dunno what its called tho!!! I don't think you are mad @ all. :p

I have a female fish that I thought was pregnant she has a gravid spot
however she got fat ,got skinny and the spot got smaller . she is rather large again
I have not had a male for at least a month I wondered how long they keep the gravid spot if they are not pregnant? I have also heard that they can get pregnant several
times after actually mating only once. Is this true? i am not sure what to do with her I have had heri in a breeder for some time.

Yes, that's true... so if you want "pure" guppies or whatever, make sure the juveniles are separated as soon as you can tell the sexes apart or you'll end up with a mish-mash (personally, I don't mind my mish-mash :D )

IMHO, being in the breeder "for some time" (how long? are we talking days, weeks, months?) may just cause her so much stress that she keeps aborting...
