in my tank, i have three guppies - two female and one male, along with twelve other fish (it's a ten gallon) and when i got the females, both were pregnant - they had the dark spot behind their fin. now, both dark spots aren't as dark and when the one poops, it's a pink color. they've been in the tank over 24 hours, almost 30 hours and i just noticed that their dark spots have lightened up. is this an abortion? neither one was near ready to give birth.
here's what they both looked like yesterday

and today that dark spot is completly gone.

good idea with the peas.
now the one female's dark spot - i dont know the "technical" term for it - is almost back to that dark. the other one still isn't there.

I cant be of much help since i too am still learning, however the technical term for the dark spot is called the gravid spot ( i think, i know its gravid something)

well, the one fish is back to having the one exactly like the picture, slightly lighter. the other one, there's still no sign of it.

your guppy could have already had some of her fry.......and they may have been eaten straight away. i've watched fry being born and with a blink of an eye.........been gobbled up! Also.......i've had guppies that have held onto their fry for ages - and sometimes i've thought that they would burst or never give birth! Make sure the fry when they are born - have someplaces to hide! Even the mums will eat the babies! If she is sort of hovering around in one area, then she could be close! :)

That happens to me a lot too. I'll think they're pregnant, but I'll put them in a breeder's net and all they do it poo and it looks like they've had babies. Peas would help. They could be pregnant and it could just be making them a bit constipated. It happens with my females all the time. :)

the thought that they would have already had them never crossed my mind. neither one of them were very large, only slightly bigger than the male.

not yet. but they're just a bit larger than the male, they don't look near ready. they have been staying close to one corner lately, but they do swim around alot too.
