Poor fishie... :byebye:

Edit: Mods please move this to Livebearers if needed...I placed it here by accident. :*)

i had a female that looked exactly the same about a month ago..she also died...i'm guessing the fry got stuck on the way out, but i'm not too sure :rip:

Sorry for your loss :byebye: RIP little fishie

im sorry for your loss. There wasnt alot you could of done.the fry do look stuck.Ive heard stories of people 'massaging'the fishes stomache and helping the babies out and it is supposed to work. You could of tried that and some people cut open the guppy to get the fry out!

I had a molly die when she tried to birth under-developed fry. Don't know if she was aborting "too late" or what, but she managed to get out 4 still-born fry, and then died.

I agree, not much you could really have done. Unless the fish was a bit young/small to breed yet, I'd be inclined to put it down to being just one of those things.

I doubt she was too young because I bought her as an adult from the lfs about 3-4 months ago. Its sad...

Yes the fry definately got stuck. I suppose if you had thought of it you could have tried massaging her stomach but as for cutting her open i have heard so many people try it and the chances of it working are 0 because once the mother has died the fry also die. If she had dies only a few seconds before cutting her open then you may be very lucky but even cutting her open is likely to damage or kill the fry!!! i dont think she would have been to young as i have a guppy that is about 5 months old and has just given birth to a few fry and she is only about this big ------------

p.s that female guppy has identical markings to my female guppy!!!!

You have 2 choices when this happens.... leave it and do nothing see if the fry comes out on its own. The fish normaly dies and so do the fry.
Or squeeze ( gentley ) in the middle of the fish, forcing the fry out. Some times the fish dies in your hand but least you get the fry to live. Very hard to do it the first time but its worth saving the fry as 9 times out of ten the mother fish dies anyway.

Poor thing that's awful sorry for your loss, R.I.P.
