At what age can females become pregnant? I have a 2 1/2 month old female (who was the product of my 2 guppies - the mother is now dead) but today i noticed a Dark spot near her anal fin, could she be pregnant by the male (her father) at such a young age?

Sounds like a Drama Series!

guppies as young as 2 months when they are sexually mature, although most keepers/breeders try avoid it until around 6 months old

I would say maybe a little less than 2 months actually, depending on the growth rate of the fish. But it is much healthier for the female and potential offspring if the mother is around and inch or so long before she is pregnant.

Males can be sexually active pretty much as soon as they have the equipment to do so. My male fry are about 2-3 weeks old now, and they're already giving the ladys a hard time.

:hyper: 2-3 weeks, my last one didn't develope until about 3 months old, i agree it is less than 2 months, wasn't really thinking when i wrote it

Just because you see males chasing females doesn't mean they are able to impregnate a female. I would say 2 months is a pretty good average still.
